Nail Art: Harry Potter Characters

I confess that I went a little crazy and decided to do another Harry Potter nail art with 10 characters from the movie. I must say that this is perhaps the hardest challenge I gave myself. Freehand painting Harry Potter characters on my 10 nails tested my endurance. It took me hours (many!) to finish this nail art design. Yes, this is how much I love the Harry Potter series! :)

Since I don't have any false nails to practice with, what I always do is draw my designs on paper first. Sometimes, I use colored pens to have an idea what it will look like in colors. This Harry Potter nail art, is again, in cartoons! I hope you will be able to recognize the characters.

Presenting ...

Nail Art Harry Potter Characters 02
Harry Potter character nail art by Simply Rins!

As you can see, I also went crazy with the base colors. I think it has to do with the fact that I'm trying to cheer myself up. I'm feeling quite low recently.

Nail Art Harry Potter Characters 01
From left: Ron Weasley, Hermoine Granger, Harry Potter, and Draco Malfoy.

As requested by my Nanay, Harry Potter is smiling in this nail art. :)

Nail polishes and materials that was used:

I used Zoya Buffy for all the skin color, black and white acrylic paint for outlines and base.

Ron Weasley - OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui as base color, and Orly Cherry Bomb for his hair.

Hermoine Granger - Essie Wife Goes On as base color, and Dashing Diva East Village for her hair.

Harry Potter - China Glaze China Rouge as base color, and black acrylic paint for his hair.

Draco Malfoy - Zoya Shawn as base color, and mixed yellow and white acrylic paint for his hair. I don't have a light yellow in my stash. :(

From left: Hedwig, Professor Severus Snape, Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Lord Voldemort.

Hedwig is a request from my sister.

Nail polishes and materials that was used:

Hedwig - Orly Samba as base color, and Lucidarling white polish with shimmer (sorry, there's no color name or code on the bottle), and yellow acrylic paint for the beak.

Severus Snape - L.A. Colors Atomic as base color, and black acrylic paint for hair.

Minerva McGonagall - China Glaze Secret Per-Wink-Le as base color, and Zoya Shawn for her wizard hat.

Lord Voldermort - L.A. Colors Wave Length as base color, and Zoya Kelly for his hood.

These 2 are my favorites:

I know this need much improvement but I like it as it now.

I hope you enjoyed viewing this Harry Potter nail art as much as I had fun doing it! I topped everything with 2 coats just to make sure it will last me until this weekend. I couldn't bare to take it off too soon. :)

My favorite Harry Potter character is Ron. His facial expressions and natural quirkiness is priceless in many scenes! Who's your favorite?

So, have you watched the latest Harry Potter movie? What do you think?

  13. These are beyond cute! I think my favourite design is Hagrid but I really like your Ron too.

I've seen the movie twice now and was very impressed both times. I really didn't like Half Blood Prince so my expectations weren't high for DH, but they did a great job!

  14. Thanks so much, girls for all your wonderful comments! :)

To Kory, I use a regular craft acrylic paint I found at a local bookstore. I got lucky with my 1st purchase. I loved the consistency. :)

I'm not that fond of HP.. I have read the first 3-4 books I think, and seen the first couple of movies, and I really enjoyed it, but for some reason I'm not hyped about it as the rest of the world :)

I hope your base colors will cheer you up! :)

  17. It was actually my sister who introduced me to Harry Potter. I'm not fond of reading books but I immediately got hooked with the Harry Potter series. :) My favorite Harry Potter movie is the Goblet of Fire but I think that will change with the release of Deathly Hallows. :)

To Rosey, I'll try to come up with a tutorial for this. But basically, it's just drawing faces and focusing on each characters' distinct feature. :)
