I also planned to share my birthday nail art before I left for my trip. Unfortunately, I misread my flight schedule and had to rush to the airport so early in the morning to catch the plane. Instead, I brought with me my nail art kit and hoped that I will have time to do my nails while on vacation. Well, I was able to just in time for my special day.
Take a look:
You have to forgive the quality of my photos. I took them on one of the islands we visited and I didn't bring the usual lens I use. This actually makes me feel proud because not only was this nail art created during an adventure, it was photo shoot while on a trip as well! It was particularly challenging to do because the lighting in my hotel room was pretty bad.
Anyway, the idea is just to paint something simple and attractive.
I only brought one polish with me and that is Deborah Lippmann Spring Buds. It's a pretty green pastel from the Lippmann Spring 2014 Collection. I used 2 coats for base. Good thing this bottle has great consistency because I didn't have a hard time on application. For a pastel, this has great coverage for 2 coats.
I used a dotting tool and a detailing nail art brush to hand paint the nail design with acrylic paints. I only brought 2 colors of paint with me -- violet and white.
I didn't have a lot of time so I opted for a design that would be easy for me to create. What I did is draw big circles randomly on all my nails and added half a flower on each one. I then added a few small dots to fill awkward places. It was quite simple, even as I paint the design with my non-dominant hand.
A darker shade of violet for the big circles and a lighter hue for the flowers looked interesting enough. Perhaps it would have been more interesting to interchange the colors randomly. I mean, some of would use a lighter shade for the big circle and a dark one for the flowers.
Notice that I also dabbed a few small white dots on top of the small violet dots.
As of this post, I am still on vacation. I wanted to post this on time for the my birthday, but I just couldn't find a decent and stable internet connection in this province until now. I have been island hopping, snorkeling, and hiking. My body aches, I have bruises, and I am completely sun burned. Nevertheless, I am overwhelmed by the beauty of my country and I can't wait to explore more of its beautiful places.
I hope you liked my birthday mani. I've received a few compliments here in town.
Do you like it?
