BYS Glitter for Nails (Part 1)

People (friends and strangers alike) always notice how I light up whenever the topic of discussion is on anything that pertains to nails. It's a subject I can talk about endlessly. I guess the people from BYS noticed the same after a brief conversation one fine afternoon. Amidst all the make-up surrounding us that day, I couldn't resist not inquiring about their nail polish line.

A few weeks after, I sat down with them again to receive some exciting news. There's a new nail kit in town and I can't wait any longer to share this with you!

BYS has officially launched its latest nail polish collection called Glitter for Nails here in the Philippines! It is texture and glitter at the same time. BYS does not claim that the concept is theirs but you'd probably agree with me after I show you a few swatches that BYS have taken the glitter manicure to the next level. This is definitely NOT your usual glitter nail polish and I haven't seen one that comes close.

BYS Glitter for Nails Kit
BYS Glitter for Nails Kit

Each BYS Glitter for Nails Kit includes a regular polish, a glitter pot, and a cleaning brush. The nail kit comes with an illustrated instruction on how to do it yourself. It is quite easy to do actually. It also includes a holder to keep the glitter pot in place when you do your nails.

BYS summarizes the process into 3 simple steps:
  1. Paint - Apply the nail polish on your nails. Do this one nail at a time.
  2. Dip - Dip your newly polished nail into the glitter pot.
  3. Brush - Brush off excess glitters around the nails.

Honestly, I was skeptic when BYS showed me the line. I thought it was just another glitter polish collection with impressive packaging. But I was wrong. I learned once again to never judge the book by its cover.

First, I thought that the secret of this nail kit is on the glitters. But after experiencing and playing with the product, I figured that the beauty of the BYS Glitter for Nails is actually on how the glitters are added on the nails.

BYS Glitter Pot

The glitter pot comes in a transparent circular container that's approximately 1.5 inches in diameter and contains 3g of glitter dusts. They are not the usual glitters that are available in craft stores. These cosmetic glitters are finer and results to a sandy texture when placed on the nails.

The BYS Glitter for Nails is available in 11 colors. And before I proceed with my review, let me show you a few swatches (with NO top coat) first:

BYS Glitter for Nails - Bling It On

Bling It On is described as with gold shimmering particles that will leave your nails feeling bedazzled. This can be a popular choice when attending a formal event. If you are not into wearing rings like myself, why not let your nails wear the gold instead and let them take care of your ensemble. Nails are fashion accessories afterall, right?

BYS Glitter for Nails - Eat My Cosmic Dust

BYS defines Eat My Cosmic Dust as just screams black, but not as you know it. This beautiful black pot contains shimmering particles of blue, red and green. And yes, it is exactly that! This is definitely one of my preferred colors. If you are afraid of wearing black polish but would love to try, you can start with this and I bet you'd develop some fondness to it. Oh, and it looks great under sunlight.

BYS Glitter for Nails - Pixie Powder

This is Pixie Powder and BYS says is just that, a pure white powder that when the light catches it, it shimmers shades of icy blue and purple. The icy blue and purple shimmers are slightly hinted with this manicure. But I saw a lot of gold shimmer which I think will make this popular to women who like subtle manicures.

BYS Glitter for Nails - Moonlight Magic

There are 2 shades of blue in this collection, one is the Moonlight Magic and is described gorgeous hue of cobalt blue. This is another personal favorite. To the more adventurous, I am quite sure you will like this one. I could imagine this looking great on any denim inspired outfit. Be fab with casual at the same time, anytime.

BYS Glitter for Nails - Star Cross Lovers

Star Cross Lovers is a brilliant shade of pink that will leave your nails looking fabulously in fuchsia, says BYS. Talk about "hot" pink! If Barbie can come alive and paint her nails, she would definitely choose this color without hesitating. This color is an absolute head turner and I admire ladies who can pull off bright colors such as this. Let this manicure show off your confidence and make you feel sexy.

BYS Glitter for Nails - Tiffany Twinkle

Another subtle color in the collection is Tiffany Twinkle, simply silver. A very versatile manicure that easily goes well with any outfit and is classy enough for a more formal affair.

BYS Glitter for Nails - Luck of the Leprechaun

Luck of the Leprechaun is my absolute favorite in the entire Glitter for Nails collection. BYS defines it as Brighter than bright green, Luck of the Leprechaun is definitely a shade that will get your mani noticed. Well, I think any color in this line will get your nails noticed. But what I love about Luck of the Leprechaun is the fact that it made me like the color green! If you have been following this blog for awhile, I'm sure you have already read in some of my posts about my lack of fondness for green polish. Although, there are occasions that I find a good one. This manicure is an addition to that. On the side, I also love the regular polish that comes with this kit. This bright color would look good during the summer, along with the other bright hues in this collection.

BYS Glitter for Nails - Putting on the Glitz

I saved my ultimate favorite for last. BYS tells us that Putting on the Glitz is a beautiful shade of Aqua perfect for adding some colour and sparkle to your outfit. Aqua, yes! A totally gorgeous and fun shade to wear. I can look down on my nails the whole day with this manicure. Another head turner in the Glitter for Nails collection. I wore this as a full mani and actually experienced people looking at them during a trip to a mall. If you don't mind receiving attention, you'd probably like to get your hands on this color.

I'd like to share with you my personal insights on possible concerns regarding the BYS Glitter for Nails and a few personal tips on the procedure itself. But I'd rather do that on a separate post. For the meantime, I hope you enjoyed the swatches and have inspired you to at least experience this product for yourself.
