Take a look:
I always find it hard to take pictures of pastels because they fight more with the lighting. This nail design looks better in real life. But I still have mixed feelings with this particular design.
For background color, I used 3 coats of Dazzle Dry At First Blush for full coverage, a creme white polish with very light pink undertones. Consistency is slightly on the thick side that is probably the reason for a streaky application. A work around is to make sure to apply the polish lightly on the nails to avoid visible brush strokes.
I hand painted the design using acrylic paints and a detailing nail art brush. My idea was to use different pastel colors to paint the floral pattern on all the nails. I was thinking that perhaps using 1 color and making an ombre version of this would look even better.
The real inspiration for this design actually came from a sentiment that was shared to me by a nail art beginner. She said she is always pressured to come up with detailed design because she feels she would impress the people around her. I think this is a common problem with a lot of nail art enthusiasts. I used to feel that way too until I realized that we do nail art for ourselves, right? And really, who said that a simple nail art cannot be beautiful? A simple polka dots nail art is always considered a classic and it is always lovely to look at. And so, I wanted to show her through this nail design that not so complicated designs can look beautiful as well.
Can you help me make up my mind? Do you think this color palette worked at all?
