Nail Art: Colored Stripes

It has been almost 3 weeks since I've last painted my nails ... and blogged, too. At first, I got depressed by a series of copyright infringement. No matter how hard I try to set aside how I feel about people stealing designs and photos, I always find myself deeply attached to my craft. It is never overacting for an artist to ask for respect. Anyway, I had a minor accident when I finally got an inspiration. I fell down a stairs and used my right hand to break my fall. I didn't have a sprain but my right wrist was slightly hurt.

I took my blogging absence as a breather and it actually allowed to me to take a step back and reevaluate my blog. For my comeback, I decided on something simple to do as I didn't want to strain my right hand just yet. It was a battle between polka dots and stripes. Well, the latter won.

I simply called this Colored Stripes because it is simply that.

I was going to wear it for Easter so I wanted something dainty. I know that a bunny was in order but I decided to let it play instead of hanging around on one of my nails. She deserves it, if you know what I mean. ;)

Colored Stripes Nail Art Design on Dazzle Dry White Lightning

For base color, I used 2 coats of Dazzle Dry White Lightnight. If you want the whitest of whites, this is definitely it. It is not exactly egg color but I didn't want any opacity problems with my color palette.

I hand-painted the design using acrylic paints and a stripping nail art brush.

You might have observed by now that I only used 3 colors -- apple green, dark pink, and light blue. I alternated the sequence each color where painted per nail. I also used different thickness just to make this nail design a little more interesting.

The idea behind this design was simple and I think the colors and how they were painted made a lot of difference when seen as a whole. Adding more colors would probably make this nail art more beautiful.

I have exciting reviews coming up and hopefully my wrist will be 100% fine to do more nail art as I am excited to paint a few ideas. For now, let me greet you a Happy Easter and hope that you liked this simple colored stripes nail art design.

  3. It's so pretty and bright - makes me happy just by looking at it!

Recently I found a blogger stealing all my posts - so I complained to Google.
A company stole a photo - so I billed them - we have to stand on out right - but not let it get to us...

  13. Looks great! But how do you draw perfectly straight lines? I tried to re-create this but found it really hard to do. It would be sooo helpful if you'd do a tutorial on this. Thanks in advance. (:

    1. Hi, Doris!

When I make another striped manicure, I'll remember your request for a tutorial. My lines are not really perfect since this is a freehand nail art. The idea is rotate your nail and keep the striper brush steady to get a good line. :)
