Nail Art: Nailed by Bees

I did this nail art design this week. I've been wanting to do a bee inspired design but I had a hard time finding a yellow polish that I really like. After searching and trying to come up with a simple design, this is what I came up with:

This is a layer of base coat, 3 layers of L.A. Colors NP413 (golden yellow), Elianto Twilight Zone for the bee stripes, and Revlon white on white for the eyes.

I first used a basic yellow color but I preferred this golden shade. Here are all the polishes that I used:

I purchased the L.A. Colors nail polish inside the department store at Market! Market! for those who are interested in trying it out. The last time I went, there were only a few colors left. Hopefully, they'll replenish with new stocks.

Unfortunately, I got engrossed into doing this I forgot to take pictures of how I did it. For the meantime, let me just enumerate the steps and hopefully I can recreate the nail art within the next few days so I can post the pics. The design is quite simple.

How I did it:

(1) Apply base coat to protect your nails from discoloration.

(2) Apply your preferred yellow polish and cover the entire nail. As for me, I used the L.A. Colors golden shade. I used 3 coats to achieve the opacity that I was aiming for. Let it dry completely before proceeding to the next step.

(3) With a black polish of your choice, apply a thin layer on the tips of your nails. I prefer to do all the tips first before doing the second stripe. But this is entirely up to you. You may choose to do a nail at a time.

(4) Add a second black stripe that's thicker than what you did with your tips. The thickness of your nail polish brush would be okay so as not to make things difficult.

(5) With a dotting tool, add 2 white circles near the cuticle area. This will serve as your eyes. The size of the eyes depends on how big you want it to be. Let this dry for awhile before adding the tiny black dots to complete the eyes. You can play with the dots. Animate your bees by making them look upwards, or downwards, or sidewards, or perhaps make them look crazy by making crossed eyes!

(6) When everything is dry, add a layer of top coat.

I hope you enjoyed this bee inspired nail art!
