Nail Art Tutorial: Heart Patches

A few days ago, I posted my Heart Patches Nail Art and I felt wonderful that it got a lot of positive feedback. It honestly surprised me because that nail design was an accident, so to speak. I really wanted to wear OPI Fly but I didn't know if I could pull off a Valentine's inspired nail design using it. So I started painting one of my nails with a big white heart and outlined it. I erased it immediately because I thought it wasn't good enough. When I began painting again, I painted the same thing! Before I had a chance to remove it, I had this idea of quilts ... then I started to paint stitches along the outline of the heart and that did it for me. And so I continued painting the rest of my nails with the idea. This experience taught me that sometimes, we just need to start on something for inspiration to follow.

Here's another look at the Heart Patches:

Nanay (english: mother) also liked the patched hearts and asked me to recreate it on her nails using a different color combination. She chose Zoya Kelly in 2 coats for her base color, a beautiful gray color that applies easily and opaque in 2 coatings.

For the hearts, she wanted a dark fuschia shade. I was hesitant at first because I wasn't sure if the color would pop out from the dark background. But Nanay continued by saying that it will with a white outline and stitches. What a brilliant idea! We both agreed though, that the small heart should be white.

Take a look at the version of my mother's Heart Patches nail art:

Okay, you know how much I love you all, right? One of the objectives of this nail art blog is to help and inspire people. That is why, as much as I can, I take in requests and answer your emails. This nail art tutorial is in response to a request by Ella Lan who wanted to know I painted these stitched hearts. I redid one of my nails so I could record this video tutorial. I hope you and those who are interested to recreate this nail design will find this helpful.

What went wrong? I think most of the designs I post here can work with nail polishes if you use a nail art brush. You just need to work a little faster since polish dries faster than acrylic paints. But I do recommend trying nail painting with acrylics. You might fall in love with them like I did. ;)

I think that's amazing news! I remember when I first bought my first set of nail art brushes, I abused them! :P Good luck on your attempts and hopefully you can share with us the results of your work.

  16. This design is SO cute! I have looked through alot of other nail designs, but yours always look the cutest/most professional/most creative. I recently did mine with a deep sky blue, and with a toothpick did dots to create a flower with yellow petals and a brown center. Nothing as spectacular as your designs, but your designs helped inspire it! :)

  17. Very cute, I just tried this on my own nails, unfortunately they were uncharacteristically short because I had just snagged one of them & had to cut them all super short. But they came out ok! I video taped it & will give you credit in my video once I post it!

  23. If you have a denim jacket, you can easily change your look simply by sewing on a new set of embroidery on it. It is also practical to keep some extra embroidery pattern for different looks since they do not cost much at all. get information
