Nail Art: Little Things

Have you ever had that feeling of having too many ideas that you can't decide on what do first? Well, this what happened when I was trying to make up my mind on what nail art I wanted to do.

Patterns was the direction I wanted to take. Floral pattern? Geometric maybe? Play with shapes or dots? After awhile, I started doodling and hoped that it would help with the decision. It did! Since I couldn't decide on one particular pattern, I decided to use all the little ideas to create a nail design. Hence, the title -- Little Things!

Behold, the results:

I played with simple shapes and placed them randomly on each nail. I didn't know what to expect with this but after painting one nail, I liked it! It may look confusing but I think that made it charming and the shapes looked really sweet all-together.

I applied 3 coats of OPI Can't Find My Czechbook, a beautiful creme aqua nail lacquer from the OPI Euro Centrale collection. This was released along with 11 other shades for Spring 2013. It has an excellent consistency. First coat is streaky but even outs on the succeeding layers. I decided on 3 coats for full coverage.

I actually received a lot of compliments on this polish when I wore it for a day as is without nail art. I wanted the color to show even with nail art so I chose to paint the design with only white acrylic paint. A detailing nail art brush and dotting tools were my companion for this project.

One of the things I like about making designs like this is the fact that it doesn't have an angle. You can look at it from any direction and it will give you the same effect. Aside from that, it didn't need too much details and is very versatile! I can definitely see myself recreating this manicure using different shapes and perhaps, more colors!

I scattered a few dots on awkward places to balance the design and used the same polish for the center of the flowers.

The hardest for me to paint in this nail design are the swirls. But I really wanted to include them so I did. Curves are always challenging for me, especially when working with my weaker hand. Do you have something like this? A design that you avoid painting?

I'm curious on what you think about my Little Things nail art design! :)
