Claiming a Parcel at the Philippine Postal Corporation

I claimed a parcel last month at the Philippine Postal Corporation (Phil Post), National Capital Region (NCR), Quezon City Central Post Office. Unfortunately, I failed to document the procedure. This month, I claimed another package and made sure I noted the process so I can share it with you.

Philippine Postal 07

Whenever you have an international package, it will be delivered to the Phil Post and not straight to you because it has to be checked by the Philippine Customs. This is to make sure that the item/s is not prohibited to enter the country. To know more about our Philippine Customs and view a list of prohibited items, please view this document: Philippine Customs Information. The branch will depend on the shipping address you provided. For example, since I reside in Quezon City, my parcel arrived at the Quezon City Central Post Office.

Philippine Postal 01
Notice sent by the Philippine Postal Corporation that tells you that the parcel can now be claimed at the Central Post Office.

When the international package arrives at Phil Post, it will first be checked by the Bureau of Customs. If the parcel is cleared, the central post office will then mail you a notice that you can claim your item/s. The window number where you should proceed when you arrive at the post office is stamped on the upper left corner of the notice. Mine (refer to above photo) said W-37, which actually meant window 37. You have 30 days to get your parcel.

Philippine Postal 06
The Central Post Office consists of a series of windows.

Philippine Postal 03
This is me in the process of claiming my package.

Here are a few reminders you should remember before going to the Central Post Office:

1. Bring a valid I.D. Examples are driver's license, voter's I.D., passport, etc. Make sure the name on your I.D. matches the name of the addressee on the parcel you are claiming.

2. You will be charged a postal fee that's indicated on the notice that was sent to you via mail. I suggest you bring an exact amount to make facilitation quicker.

3. Always double check your package. It might not be yours.

The Philippine Postal Corporation, Central Post Office is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm but closed during lunch breaks from 12:00nn - 1:00pm. For more details, visit the Phil Post Website.

  1. I was claiming my parcel, the examiner says it has a torn price tag and should be taxed since it looks like it is worth more than $ 10. I was not able to claim it because he is asking for a letter from the sender. I am confused because he is not clear why I cannot claim my parcel.

  2. Apparently, there's a new rule that goods brought in that's about $10 worth is taxable. Why was he asking for a letter from the sender? Try going here - http://philpost.gov.ph/web/category/news/ - and check on updates on claiming parcels.

  4. Hi, Vanenie! The tax fee is really not indicated in the notice. It is just to let you know that you have a parcel waiting to be claimed in the post office.

  5. Hi rins, i have someone in the us ti send a package to me...What shipping address should i indicate in the package? my residence adress or the phost office adress? how will i know how much should i pay for the tax fees?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hi, Albert!
The shipping address is your home address or where you would like to package to be delivered. It is just that all international packages, regardless the shipping address, goes directly to Phil Post for screening and they notify you that your parcel has arrived and ready for claiming. Depending on the notice you receive, you may pick up your item/s on the Phil Post branch of the city you live in or you may have to go directly to the main Phil Post office in Pasay City. This will be indicated on the notice card that will be delivered to you.

As for the amount of taxes you'll have to pay, that would depend on the declared value of the package. There are items that will not require you to pay taxes. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact computation for taxes. As far as I know, it will depend on the value of your item/s.

    Good luck!

  7. I always pay Php 40 for any parcel I receive through the post office. Why is this so? Even books I order online are charged to me. :(

  8. Yesterday, I went to Post Office for the first time to picked up a parcel. They charged me 40php and gave me an official receipt for it BUT they also asked an amount of 1290php almost 50% of the value of my parcel that is only written on a peice of scratch paper! The woman told me it is the "Custom Duty Tax" which included stamp tax and vat and some other tax stuff I didn't understand. I refused to pay it, luckily, they let me go but next time she said (exact words) "next time sisingilin na kita" and insisted that it is in the law.
I really need help to understand this, what really is this "custom duty tax"?? I have 3 more parcels arriving this month and I really hate paying that unreasonable huge amount of money. For god's sake, I'm just a student!

  9. Hi, Maria Alyssa!

You could ask the customs officer how he/she arrived that the computation of your custom duty tax. Did you purchase your item/s online or are the items personal gifts? Is there a declared value included in your parcel?

For a glimpse of the computation, you may refer to my post here.

    1. Hi Rins. I'm going to purchase an item online worth $100 plus shipping fee of $18. In total of $118.

Will there be a tax when I claim it? And how much will it cost me? And why is that?

  12. Hello! I just want to ask because my friend sent me a letter (an envelope) that contains photos through registered mail. I was wondering if I will need to claim it at Philpost or it will be delivered to my house? :O Thanks for the help! :D

  13. Hi rins!

I'm so glad I came across this really helpful entry of yours. The Philpost website is pretty much useless and I actually got more info from your shared experiences than the 20 minutes I spent navigating their website. >__<

My friend in California mailed me a stuffed toy souvenir she got on her recent Korea trip. She says she sent it over a month ago but I have yet to get a notice from the QC Central Post Office. Do packages usually take THIS long to arrive? And how can one follow up a parcel if they haven't received a notice of claim yet? :-(

    Thanks! =D

  14. Hi, Lex!

I'm glad my post about Philpost was helpful to you. :)

Early this year, I won a prize from a nail art contest that was hosted in the U.S. It took a month to get here as well. I think it all depends on the mail option the sender chose. Based on experience, it take a longer time to send parcels here in the Philippines.

Regarding the follow up, if your package has a tracking no., you can call the courier for status. :)

  26. Hi,

I saw the computation page and there was no real computation as you also did not know where the $98.34 was from. Did you ever find out? Because we received a parcel from the UK and they are charging us P3000 for it. Very interested at how nobody has attempted to really get into what's going on or even sue them. Thanks!

  27. The customs should publicly and officially lay the laws about taxing the parcel and the taxing computations basis. Section 2703 of Customs Law indicates that private, non-commercial craft / items are EXEMPTED OF FEES but in most post offices, grabe the customs are so corrupt, doing extortions and over-the-top taxes / billing. Customs' the TOP CORRUPT PHIL Govt agency.

Perhaps you can call Philpost and inquire about the status of your parcel. With your tracking no. on hand, they could probably give you information about your item.

Hi everyone!!!this forum is very informative, I sent a package with some documents and gift items from Spain, I already paid shipping and handling fee as priority mail, it should have arrived 1 week ago, but according to the tracking number in Spain´s website, my package arrived in the Phil last June2, but until now, my sister hasn´t received it, she didn´t even receive any notification from Phil Post,I´ve tried to have a follow up from the trace and track of their site (Philpost) but no matches found, I got scared because it has been 3 weeks, another thing, I don´t have any idea that they also charge the Custom fee after paying from the point of origin, I hope you could give me some advice, thanks!!!

    I supposed to received a small packet size parcel send last June 1, 2012 from Lloyd Minister, Canada but its already July 24... and with numerous emails send to ems.cs@philpost.com for inquiries, all they can say is their apology and sincere service, and for me to follow it up with the local post office which I experience a shrugged and an exit door. Damn what a frustration. anyway I'm still hoping the parcel would find my doorstep handed to me by a good turtle. ";

  34. Hi! I've been searching for topics about Philippine Post for a very long time. I'm very thankful for this post, at least I learned something. My problem is, I won book contests a couple of time already, the first one was dated last December pa, but I haven't received it or any notification. I'm way past being frustrated, it seems like I'm waiting for nothing. I have 5 or more parcels coming. I'm from Lapu-Lapu City, a city in Cebu. Is it wise for me to pay a visit our local post office and ask for informations? Thanks a lot.

Sabi ng sister ko baka na-delay lang kc may bagyo, so sabi ko "ok"..pero hanggang ngayon wala pa rin ung package, so nag decide ako tonight na i-check ung tracking# nakalagay na dumating na raw ung package sa pinas nung june30 pa, pero wala pa kaming natatanggap na anumang sulat at since first time ko na magpadala ng regular package sa family ko kala ko idi-deliver sa bahay. until nakita ko nga itong sites mo. Anyway, i clicked the web site para sa philpost and nilagay ko yung 13digit tracking# but for some reason ala ung item or ala silang record ng item. Then i called most of the numbers pero alang luck!!!either di gumagana or busy tone ang nakukuha ko...Ahhhhh!!sorry naiinis lang ako kasi naguguluhan at di ko alam kong sino ang dapat kausapin at ano ang gagawin ko!!!:+( (any info e-mail me roma021981@yahoo)

  39. hi guys...i had a very bad experience at philpost...it was in makati...last 2010 my friend from europe send a package...it was a surprise package for christmas...i didnt know whats in there...so when my notice arrived..i went straight at Makati philpost office and claimed my package and when they open it..it was digi cam and some dresses and magazine...since theres a declared amount on the digicam...the girl right away compute the tax i should pay and after computing...i was so shocked coz it coz almost 3,000 php..i am no so sure anymore about the amount because its been a while already but that was about that amount..so i was so shocked because i never expected that...but since..i was afraid that the camera and the other item might be stolen by them...so i then go right away to the atm to withdraw some cash...to pay for it....luckily i have enough money back then...so then when i went back from getting some cash...the post office guy..talked to me privately and said...if you want we can give lower the amount you have to pay its going to be cut 50% of the total tax amount...but we will not be issuing you any receipt..just give me the money and youll get the package right away...so as someone who is confuse on whats going on...pissed on the amount she needs to pay even though it was all paid from the country of origin and also as someone who is more concern about getting her package i chose to pay the 50%...but no receipt....and then now...just august 10 2012 my bf sent me a gift..he ordered it from victoria secret in USA...and VS sent it through postal and then when i claimed it VS wrote declared amount and then again the same girl when i got my package last 2010 computed the tax again..and then i was shocked because its even more than 50% of the amount declared on the package....so i was so pissed considering that it was a gift and ill also almost pay for it myself...so then i asked the girl what is this all about why there are alot of tax..why theres a 15% and why theres still 12% and why there are another amount..and then she only said..it being taxed because its imported and then she said did you buy this iten..i said no..its a gift..and then all she said was its still imported..and then...i was so pissed and walked out..and then while i was at outside the post office..calming myself down theres another guy talked to me and said..to talk to the girl and they can make a deal for me and lower the price down....but i ignored the guy and just walk away..and until now i havent gotten my package because i want to understand more if should i really pay that much...for that item my bf gifted me...is all this amount legal?? can you please help me more understand it???if its legal..i will have no problem paying it..but again..the philpost employee are trying to make a corrupt act...is there any way this corruption in this philpost could be stopped???the last time they got me because i was un aware of whats going on..and now...i dont want to tolerate this kind of practice....is there any law against all this corrupt employee...imagine..everyday there are alot of package coming in...and alot of it are taxable like they said..and if almost all of them will just go pay the 50% without receipt how much money would that be and it goest directly to their pocket..???PHILPOST IS REALLY UNBELIEVABLE...those customs tax are even crazy and unreasonable...its why people chose it this way..because we thought its cheaper..without realizing...youll almost as much as youll pay fed-ex..dhl or UPS..and they took forever before youll get it..while those express companies only takes 1-3 days before you get it....I HOPE THERE WILL BE A CHANGE IN THIS KIND OF SYSTEM....what a corrupt.....can anyone tell me please where can i report this corrupt employees please....thank you so much..hope this will also be helpful to others....MAKATI PHILPOST IS FULL OF CORRUPT EMPLOYEES BELIEVE ME...hope my experience wont happened to any of you guys....GOD BLESS...

  47. My sister sent me 3 parcels from London last August 14 containing Olympics shirts and clothes for my niece and nephew. QC Central Post Office sent me a notice card last Sept3 and it was delivered to my office yesterday (Sept4). I tried going there early so I can go to work right after. I arrived before 8:30am and they're already open. I'm not the first one in line and everyone seems already working. I went to W37 to show my notice card and went to W36 to pay for my parcel. They issued me with a receipt of Php40 and went to W39 to claim my parcel, subject for customs check. Customs teared my parcel and he picked one item from there, he just said: "ah sapatos ng bata." I was expecting 3 large envelopes but they only gave me one. So I told W37 that I'm expecting 3 parcels, not just one. He asked someone to check the other packages. They saw my 2 other parcels sealed in plastics (they are not accounted yet, and wasn't indicated in the notice that they sent me.) I was told to pay for the 2 parcels again at W36. After paying Php 80 at W36, I went again to W39 to get my parcel. Customs said that they didn't receive my parcels on the same day. He also asked me where my parcels came from, I told him that it was from my sister. I volunteered that he check my parcels again. He teared the plastics but he didn't actually check what's inside. He just told me that the packaging was teared but not really damaged. I said, that's fine. I didn't pay for any customs due. 3 parcels at Php 120 in less than 10 minutes plus open before 9AM. 1-2 people lined up per window.

  50. Hi Rins! gud day. this blog is really helpful. my friend and I joined an online contest conducted by the korean Tourism Organization last aug. Although we didnt win but as a token of appreciation KTO sent us a gift. Last Monday (sept10,2012) the package was delivered to my friend's address in santa ana manila but since she was at work, the postman didn't give the package to her housemate bacause an authorization letter must be obtained plus a valid id. Today, she received the notification that she needs to get the package at the post office. With all the horror stories and experiences that our kababayan has suffered, we are very much anxious of getting the package comes friday hehehe. Do you think the post office will still charge us tax considering that gifts lng naman yun from KTO?And pano kung walang naka-indicate the price dun sa items na nakapaloob sa package?(honestly, we also didnt know kung ano yung pinadala nila).. hope u can share ur ideas.thnx! elle

If the package is at your city post office, most probably you wouldn't be taxed. Most parcels that are blocked by customs are often claimed in the Pasay office.

Based on my experiences, no tax will be billed if the items were declared as gift by the sender. But it all depends on the discretion of the customs officer.

I hope you can come back here and share with us your experience when you finally get your parcel. Good luck! :)

  54. Oh don't bother referring them to the PhilPost website... it's useless! Maybe it would serve a better purpose to send your link to a higher government office for them to see all these complaints about the Postal service. It is indeed so frustrating and disappointing NOT to have a proper and trustworthy venue to air out such complaints. Sad that it has to be aired out on a blog like yours. But you're doing a good job here with your blog helping our kabayans with their postal issues.

    Thank you. Blessings to you!

  56. Sent a simple package to a friend in Makati. It was sent priority mail...mostly candy for the kids. Tracking it via USPS, it arrived in the Philippines 9/13/2012. It has been sitting there since. Delivery was never confirmed which leads me to believe that it was never delivered and probably never will be. What is wrong with these people? All these years, nothing has changed! Still the same corrupt, disrespectful batch of employees only now of a different generation. I know that there are good people within the system, but the rotten ones just taint the entire bunch. Such a rotten shame!

Claimed a parcel from the Mandaluyong post office today. It was my daughter's costume sent by the a friend from Korea. I only paid 40 pesos. I did notice that the package seemed opened though. It took me less than ten minutes to get the package. I wished the staff at the counter smiled more. but I guess given their meager government salary, a smile would have been too much to ask???

Based on my experience with DHL, they deliver straight to your doorstep. If in case you need to pay any tax on your parcel, a DHL representative should call to advise you that you need to settle some fees.

If the item/s is a gift, it should not incur duties and taxes ... well, technically speaking. Mine was a gift and it still was taxed by customs. Hopefully, yours would not have the same fate.

  71. Hi!

I ordered something online and the shipping is International Airmail (my understanding is that this is only regular airmail). It's been more than a month and I have no tracking no. for my package from Korea. Also, I haven't received any notice from our post office :( Another person had a diff courier with tracking no. and has gotten her package from the post office. But the post office insists that packages should have tracking no. and she has also received a notice to pick up her package, and I haven't. What should I do? Will I be entertained by the post office? I have yet to visit 2 post offices.. since I live in Pasay there's one near here or the Manila Central Post Office :(

EMS usually takes 2-4 business days but her packaged came in the post office after 3 weeks.

I got a little confused with your concern. The sender's name is not really important when the item arrives at PhilPost. Our post office will send a notification card to whom you addressed your gift. He/she or his/her authorized representative can claim the package. The notification card includes an instruction on how to get an item with an authorized representative.

  80. (1/2)

Hi, Ms. Rina! Thank you so much for this blog post. This has helped (and it still is helping) me a lot. So in return, I wish to share with you my own experience that started with a crazy parcel notice.

Tomorrow (December 10), I shall pick up two parcels that I have been expecting for almost a month now. One is from the US and the other one is from Hong Kong. I bought a pair of boots in the US and bought a dress and a pair of tights in Hong Kong. After I realized that aside from personally claiming the parcels at the post office (QC Central Post Office, NIA Road), I also need to come prepared with cash for the ‘crazy computation’ the customs officer might charge me, and so I decided to do a little research. And then I stumbled upon your blog.

All the details I got from researching came from the comments and posts I read here and on other blog sites. So thank you, people. I hope this will help everyone as much as it has helped me prepare for picking up my parcels (although I have to admit, going through everything the first time almost gave me nightmares as I was worried sick I’d be paying a lot just to get the stuff I bought online).

Let’s start with this link on an interesting FB page:
    https://www.facebook.com/Philippine.Customs.Duties.and.Taxes?fref=ts
It's a page that transparently shows how customs duties and taxes are and SHOULD BE computed.

The page can help everyone to easily see and understand how the crazy computation goes. The page provided several notes that can answer most (if not all) of our queries and even help us come prepared when we get a notice of a parcel waiting to be picked up by us at the post office.

I decided to come up with several rules to help you guys relax as soon as you receive a notice from the post office about a parcel that needs to be picked up.

    Rule #1: Know your duties.
Check on the Tariff Rate Table to know the percentage of the rate duty the customs will charge on your purchase. (Here’s a link: http://www.tariffcommission.gov.ph/EO_574_annexes.htm go through every single pdf file and search or Ctrl+F the keyword for your item. I used boots and dress.)

My items fall under apparel, so the tariff rate duty is 15%. Please do remember that there are items that are non-taxable (like books and educational materials), so you are likely to pay for the amount stamped on your parcel, Php40 for the postal fee (I’m not so sure about the storage fee though, but check it out on the FB page).

Check the current dollar-peso rate as well (preferably the rate on the day you’ll pick up your parcel). This will also dictate your computation. Best to check the rate on: http://customs.gov.ph

    ReplyDelete
  81. Rule #2: Know your math.
You’ll need your addition and multiplication skills here—or a calculator will do ;)—to prepare a rough computation on how much you will need to claim your parcel. Here’s a table for the computation
    (source: https://www.facebook.com/notes/philippine-customs-duties-and-taxes/sample-basic-computation-on-imported-items-apparels/516891408340328).
NOTE: figures are actual amount based on my rough computation for the boots I bought in the US.

Cost of Goods (USD) + Freight (USD) = Total amount (USD)
Total amount (USD) x current dollar-peso rate = Dutiable Value (PHP)
    (ex.: )
    125.00 + 28.66 = $153.66
    153.66 x 40.88 = Php6281.62

Dutiable Value x Rate Duty^ = Customs Duty
(^ means this may vary, check the tariff table for actual rate duty)
    (ex.:)
    6281.62 x 15% = 942.24 [or 6281.62 x 0.15 = 942.24]

Dutiable Value + Customs Duty + CDS* + IPF* = Total Landed Cost
Total Landed Cost x 12% VAT Rate* = VAT
    (* means value is constant)
    (ex.:)
    6281.62 + 942.24 + 265 + 250 = 7738.86
    7738.86 x 12% = 928.66 [or 7738.86 x 0.12 = 928.66]

    Summary
Customs Duty + VAT + CDS + IPF = Total Customs Duty and Taxes
    (ex.:)
    942.24 + 928.66 + 265 +250 = Php2385.90

Thus, I need to go to the post office with Php2385.90 to be able to get my parcel. The price I have to pay for wanting to own a pair of good boots. :P

Rule #3: Arm yourself with knowledge, documents, and courage. As well as an ample amount of patience and respect.
As we all know, “walang manloloko kung walang magpapaloko.” And the best way to avoid being victimized by such corruption is to have the knowledge about this business, armed with the documents (your rough computation, pdf file or book of the tariff table, your invoices, and contact numbers of the people you can contact to complain about corruption), and backed up by your courage that you will not tolerate corruption and will not be victimized by it.

But then again, not everyone is corrupt. Never lose hope that honest people still exist even in the customs offices, so deal with your transaction with patience and respect for the staff giving you service. If something goes wrong, be firm but polite. Don’t easily give in to your anger and nag about where their salary comes from. Let them know and understand that you came prepared. And if they insist on doing their evil deeds, document everything, get the names of the staff involved, and report it straight to the bureau of customs through this website: http://customs.gov.ph or call their hotlines (or see if this page could also help: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bureau-of-Customs-Complaints/165075396847390).

It might also help to see if you know someone from the Bureau of Customs to help you assess things or complain if you must. Luckily, I have a cousin who can back me up if things go wrong. But I am praying for good things to happen tomorrow.

    P.S.:
I think we must also remember that honesty should come from both directions: from the customs office and from YOU. If you see that the duty and taxes computations are correct, don’t try to haggle anymore. That would make you no different from the people you rant about when they try to “rob” you through the crazy taxes and computations. I know the taxes may seem absurdly high, but that does not give us the justification to be irresponsible. “Treat others as you want them to treat you.” (Matthew 7:12a).

I shall come back soon to share my journey tomorrow. Pray for my journey to be great! Thank you!

Anyway, it contains "used laptop and few chocolates". Do you have any idea how much tax will I pay? I will going to get the package by Monday, hopefully they will just charge me small amount only.. I am not the most reliable person to ask regarding your concern. But to give you my personal answer, if you have received a notice card to claim your item/s, that means you have to go to the PhilPost branch indicated in the notification card. If you haven't received a notice, we have to assume that your package is not here in the country or is not yet ready for release.

    1. Hi, Gloria.

Thanks for sharing your experience here. Based on my personal experience, all my international packages were opened infront of me whenever I need to claim it at PhilPost. This practice is actually necessary to ensure that we are not bringing in prohibited item/s here in the country. As long as it is done in your (or your representative) presence, I think that is fair.

Is your daughter a minor? If she is, you could ask her to bring an adult along when she claims your gift. That way, she would not get intimidated and someone with more authority can talk on her behalf.

I cannot say if the tax that was imposed on your package was unfair because you didn't disclose what you sent. But customs do give a receipt and a computation on how they came up with the fee. Your daughter can ask the officer-in-charge a breakdown and an explanation.

I hope your daughter will be able to receive the Christmas gift you sent her. :)

I purchased my item from Brandsfever SG last January 8, 2014.. being shipped to the Philippines by January 24 and arrived at the Philippines by February 4 (I was given a link by Brandsfever for tracking my shipment).. I received my registry notice delivered to my address by a postman from manila post office just today February 13. So it is more than a month. I will drop by at the post office tomorrow morning and will see if I will get it by just paying the post office fee or with tax also.

I received a notice from postal post office and they said that i can claim my letter. My problem is, they did not indicate any information on where and how can i get it. I'm expecting my SSS loan check and yet a notice from postal post office is what i received. Do you think, i can claim it in the central office?

    1. Hi, Richvan!

Sometimes, parcels take more than the usual time with customs. They are being thorough with inspecting item/s that comes in the country. If your package is not taxable, then you shouldn't be charged anything else other than the postal fee. But like many of the people who published their comments here, there really is no telling whether or not customs will place a tax on your item/s.

Im really starting to worry because til now, i dont have my shoes. I tried calling philpost angeles city but they told me, the item is still in customs. they told me that i should wait for them to send me a notice. 1. Hi, Richvan.

I've experienced having my parcel in customs for almost a month. I guess it really just depends on the bulk of packages arriving here in the country? I can't really say that going to customs without a notice is the best option but if you feel that it is worth your time, then perhaps you should. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly and you'll be able to get your shoes! :)

Thanks for posting and I hope you can come back to share with us your experience once you get your item.

  112. Hi Rina! I would just like to ask: how safe are the surroundings of the Quezon City Post Office? And is it relatively easy to get a taxi from there once I'm ready to leave? I'll be going there alone to pick up a package, and I've heard from some people that it's not too safe to go there alone if you're a woman (lots of guys hanging around, near a squatter area, etc.). So I'd like to know how true those rumors are. Thanks a lot in advance! :)

    1. Hi, Franjan.

I might not be the right person to answer this because I always bring a car with me. But yes, it is very much near a squatter area. The QC PhilPost is along a main road so it is frequented by public transport such as jeepneys and taxis. There's also a guard at the gate so you could probably ask him for assistance. But best if you could tag along someone to accompany you. Take care. :)

Costs $61 and in total its $107 including the shipping. How much tax will be charged to me? (hope it will not reach thousands)

  123. Hi, just wanna share my experience. I finally decided to go to CMEC or Philippine Postal at Pasay yesterday since I don't wanna wait and no longer expect my parcel or that effin' notification to arrive at my doorstep. I'm from Rizal and imagine the hassle of travelling to pasay. Took an MRT from Cubao to Taft then after dropping off took a taxi since there are no jeepneys or other public vehicles allowed on Domestic road. Not to mention I was also absent from work just to check on my beloved parcel just rotting there in their storage. Yes, that's right my parcel is at the storage area all along just waiting to be taxed by customs. By the way, my parcel was sent through USPS Priority Mail. (they call that priority? Tsk..) So first I went to the Customer Service window and gave my tracking number then they advised me to proceed to 2nd floor. From there I gave my tracking number so they could confirm on their computer that it is indeed there. Then they asked me to fill out a form indicating the tracking number, name, address etc. After that the employee said to follow him to the storage area. Took only a minute to find my parcel. Seeing my parcel unopened and unharmed was priceless. But unfortunately, there is no releasing of parcel there. My parcel will only released once it has reached my local post office and from there I can finally claim it. Also there are no custom official present at that time so I will not be able to see the effin' computations. So he asked for my contact so that they will call me once it has been properly taxed and forwarded to my local post office by Tuesday or Wednesday.

So if you already confirmed on the tracker that your parcel has indeed arrived here in the country please don't hesitate to visit it there instead of waiting for months to arrive at your local post office. It's just rotting there in the storage waiting to be taxed by lazy worthless customs officials and employees.

  124. Hi, I wanna share my experience too. First eBay purchase ko and I addressed the package in Taguig Post Office. USPS parcel tracker said my package arrived here last July 9, eBay estimated I should receive it by Jul-15 to Jul-19 so hindi muna ako nag-panic masyado, pero alarmed ako na Jul-16 na, wala pang notice.

Before that pagka-alarm moment, I sent an email to amed@phlpost.com.ph on Jul-12 to help me track if the item ever arrived in Taguig post office. They replied on Jul-15 and copied me on their response to Taguig PO, which I appreciated.

July 16, I contacted Taguig PO (Lower Bicutan, not FTI) directly and spoke with Mr. Ronald (i'm so bad with names I couldn't remember his last name). I supplied my track number and name to him to look for my package. Around 3 minutes after, he came back to the phone and said the package is already there and that I could pick it up. I asked, "Pwede pong i-pick up kahit walang official notice?" Okay lang daw, since they got my name logged na. He asked me to look for Mr. Cesar when I drop by.

July 17, I got there around 15-20 mins before 4pm. I looked for Mr. Cesar, who by the way is very accommodating. He asked when did I say the package was delivered in Taguig. Like I have a way to know (hellooo, sila ang nagreceive. but, moving forward, if I call again for delayed notice, I should get the exact receive date in Taguig PO too). I only got the exact date it was processed in the Philippines (which was last Jul-9).

There is no computer record to start with. Log book, oo merun. Yung blue log book that you are probably familiar with being used by security guards and lost-and-founds. My package was delivered and listed on July 10.

Although I have questions in my head like how long does writing and sending a parcel notice takes (They could at least make a system of writing a notice upon receiving the item, and put them in an Outbox or something if ever they thought of batch sending those notices), I have to hold it and save it for later in case something unexpected turn of events comes.

They gave me a pamphlet re:Tariff and was informed that pag more than $50 ang item value, there's a tax (i could not find a reference for this). I asked, "Yung item value po ba, kasama ang shipping and handling?" Oo daw.

I have been frequent in BoC website to check guidelines for imports, parcels, and how to compute parcel tax. Para maging ready lang in case hindi masunod ang value as declared by eBay seller. Awa ng Diyos, hindi. Wala akong tax because less than $20 lang yung item ko.

I paid Php50.00 for TPO service fee. sabi ng iba, 40 pesos lang siya dati, tumaas na siguro.. I thanked the TPO people (making sure I took note of the first names at least of every one who helped me), they thanked me, too. Yun.

July 18, I received an email from phlpost, I was copied to the Taguig PO response that my package was already in the post office. Quite delayed, but I replied just the same, told them i got the package, copying the TPO email address. To thank them both for following up.

I just hope I still have faster transaction with them next time. I am still waiting for two more packages (small eBay purchases). I dread going to CMEC (one of my item was categorized as EMS).

    1. Better pay a visit to CMEC/Philpost Pasay if you already confirmed that its already here in the country. With all those piles of parcels at their storage area customs are so lazy to examine them. As much as possible have them pull out your parcel once they have confirmed it and then have it examined by customs within the day. Lastly, pay the effin' customs duties and tax so you can get it right away (if its EMS) or they'll be dispatched to your local post office (if its Priority Mail).

    1. This actually happened to me as well when a company sent me items via DHL. When a DHL agent called me to inform me that I need to pay a certain amount for tax. I refused because the package is supposed to be a gift or in other words, I did not purchase the items.

Did you declare the package as a gift? If so, then your mom does not need to pay anything other than postal fee. But then again, the way our customs work here in the Philippines is somewhat confusing. If in any case they are persistent that your mom pays the Php3300, perhaps you can ask her to haggle for a discounted rate and argue that the package is actually a gift from you.

Good luck and please let us know how the transaction went. :)

it was stated and declared with the same amount and i will be claiming it in EMS in pasay. It was actually a gift for me. my husband bought and pay for it and send it to my address using my name and he gave me the tracking number for claiming purposes.
And I guess I'll be paying a higher tax right?
But my problem is.. is it possible to be stolen by custom employees? I'm just worried 'cause im seeing a lot of blogs about stealing the packages. So, since its a Laptop would it be possible to get stolen?

Many times na rin ako nakabili thru online, mga maliliit lang namn na items akin, not weighing more than a half kilo.
So sad, di sa I'm pushing you to do this, mine is just a tip, it's really wrong na maglagay but if you really love the item, then syempre gagawa ka ng paraan para makuha mo. And maraming paraan para dayain ang resibo in your face, kahit ako kaya ko.

So iba-iba,k?
Registered mail ay 15-20 days kasali bilang sat. and sun. EMS takes 3-5 days based on my experience.
Hope nakatulong ako kahit kapiraso lang........everytime you purchase online never forget to ask for the tracking number for the seller.

  154. My boyfriend sent me a package last November 30. And obviously until now, wala pa din ako na-receive na notice. Btw, he's from Canada. Should i still hope that i will receive the package even though its been 2months now ? Nakaka frustrate talaga. We both learned our lesson. And that is "never trust Philpost again". Better use Fedex. More reliable that Philpost sh*t. And to think na gift lang yung pinadala sakin which includes a shirt, teddy bear, and some chocolates. At lumipas ang 2months wala pa din ? Bulok talaga sistema. Kaya hindi umuunlad ang pinas eh. -.-

  155. naranasan ko umorder from HK last year, mga august-september. BTW, nice thread! (Y)

    2. Do you have a receipt from the seller? It would be difficult for you to even inquire about your package without a tracking no.

  161. Hi Ms. Rina

Same place different number ng house?
