My Toy Stories

My sister and I had nothing to do one lazy night and decided to watch Toy Story 3.



Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), together with the gang took us to a learning adventure! If I have to give one word that the movie reminds me of, it would be -- friendship. In the 3rd sequel to the Toy Story series, the toys face the challenge of being outgrown by Andy (their owner) as he prepares to go to college. Misunderstandings and false assumptions initially paved the way for the gang to split up. As the story progresses, Woody and his friends realize their mistakes and the consequences of their choices. In the end, they all proved the importance of sticking up for one another.

On a lighter note, I enjoyed Toy Story 3's humor and ironies. One particular irony I want to mention here is the character of Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear. He's the giant purple teddy bear. The name by itself connotes gentleness but his personality is actually the opposite. There's nothing huggable about this particular teddy bear except for the fact that he's big and fluffy. :)

When I got back to my studio (read story here and here), I saw a few of my toys that I started to collect just a few years back. You see, I have this habit of coming home from a travel with a souvenir. Most of the time, it would be a key chain that I attach on the bag that I used during the trip. But if I can find a stuffed toy I can bring home, that's what I buy.

I wonder if they come alive too whenever I'm not around ...

I used the play Level Up! Games' Ragnarok. It's an online game that I played for almost 2 years. There's a monster there called Deviruchi. It looks pretty much the same as this red stuffed toy, except that it doesn't have the death fork (is that how it is called?) I bought at a toy store in Eastwood. I'm sorry, I forgot the name of the shop. I got this when I quit the game. It's red and I love red so I bought it. I named it just as how the monster in the game is called -- Deviruchi. He was a maintstay in the car that I previously drive. Now, it's hanging in my studio.






Now this white tiger came from Bali, Indonesia. My sister and I named him Barack. Yes, he was named after the current U.S. President, Barack Obama. I bought this last November 2008 as a souvenir from the Tiger Safari when Obama just won the U.S. Presidential Elections. Barack has been in my drawing table since I brought him home. His first shower was just last month. He got a little too dusty. :)








This stuffed toy monkey came from Zoobic Safari in Subic. His name is Zoori. Unlike most monkeys, he's white and apparently supported Manny Villar during the recently concluded Philippines Presidential Elections! Yay! So why did I bought a monkey stuffed toy when Zoobic Safari is known for their tigers? Well, I didn't want Barack to get jealous. Besides, this monkey was on sale! Buy one, take one! His twin is with my Nanay at her shop. Zoori is now hanging in one of the walls in my studio. He's got a very long pair of arms and a very long tail as well. The most recent addition to my stuffed toy souvenirs is a lion from Ark Avilon Zoo. Let me introduce to you Noynoy. My sister suggested the name because Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III was winning the presidential race at the time I went to Ark Avilon Zoo. Luckily, Noynoy will be taking his oath to office on June 30, 2010 as the new president of the Philippines. The stuffed toy Noynoy now sits at my drawing table, alongside Barack. My studio is slowly turning into a mini zoo of stuffed animals and I'm not complaining. They all remind me that there's a child in everyone of us. :)
