Zoobic Safari

My parents and I, together with my sister's pet dog, decided to take a road trip to Subic last Good Friday, 02 April 2010. We originally planned to visit 2 amusement parks -- Ocean Adventure and Zoobic Safari. But due to time constraints, we only got to visit the latter.

Entrance to Zoobic Safari

Zoobic Safari
is tagged as the only tiger safari in the Philippines. We were charged Php450 entrance fee per person. Pets are not allowed inside the park. So if you're planning to bring your pet along, be prepared to leave him/her in the care of the staffs from the park. There's really no room designated for pets. We left our dog in the staff quarters. It would definitely help if you'll bring your pet's carrier cage.

Our designated tour guide who briefed us before entering the park.

The park assigns 1 tour guide for approximately every 30 visitors. Upon entering the vicinity, your guide will give you a short introduction about Zoobic Safari. Normally, I would rather explore a park on my own but having a guide is better because he/she will give you a background or facts regarding the attractions you'll see inside the park. The only thing I dislike about having a guide is that I can't follow my own pacing. There are times I'd like to linger in one area but the group needs to move forward because the guide says so. Well, at least you're not forced to exit the park once you've finished your tour. This means you can just go back and explore the park on your own.

Jeep with safety bars used for the Tiger Safari.

The Tiger Safari main attraction of Zoobic Safari. You will ride a jeep with safety bars and it will take you to an open area where tigers are roaming freely. If you're lucky, you'll be able to see one up close and personal. There's an option to buy a chicken for Php200 and a park staff will ride with your group and feed it to a tiger. In this way, you'll be able to see a tiger in action. Sometimes, the tiger would even jump to the roof of your jeep just so it can get the chicken. I got lucky during our tiger safari. I was sitting at the back and a tiger lingered exactly where I was and we looked into each others eyes. Haha!

Zoobic Safari Tram ride that can take you anywhere within the park.

Okay, this is crazy. This tiger looks really gentle!

In Zoobic Safari, people are caged and the tigers are roaming free!

Visitors has the option of using their own cars to transfer from one area to another. Unfortunately, there are areas within the park that will deem too tiring for you to traverse by foot. The tram ride is another option if you don't want to use your car. The ride is Php50 per person. There is a special ride worth Php100 that is inclusive of a bottle of cold water.

Here are some of the animals you will encounter in Zoobic Safari:

A lizard I found very interesting inside the Serpentarium.

This poodle knows how to dance the Tinikling!

This monkey knows how to play basketball!

Baby ostriches that were born inside the Zoobic Safari.

A bear cat. You'll see a few more inside the park, freely roaming above your head. So better be careful or else you'll end up with a poop on your head. :)

Visitors can buy a chicken for Php50 and feed it to the crocodiles. The piece of chicken is tied by a string with the other end tied to a long sturdy wooden pole. You will be on a steel rail and the crocodiles will be underneath you. So it would look like you're fishing but you're actually feeding the crocodiles.

I do recommend vising Zoobic Safari in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. Although I think that the tiger safari adventure should last longer since it is their main attraction. The actual ride only lasted approximately 5 minutes! The park is open daily, including holidays from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

  2. Hmm ... good question. Since I was in a mobile cage (so to speak), I hardly felt frightened nor helpless but I still felt dominated.
